What is GOGOBags?
GOGOBags, formally Income4GOGOs is an Alexandra-based initiative that provides grandmothers opportunities to earn an income by sewing bags and blankets at home.
Project Aim
This project aims to enhance the economic independence of gogos by providing them with skills and opportunities for income generation. This entrepreneurial activity increases household income, which improved financial access to essential necessities for supporting children in their care.
How it works
Gogos are trained in sewing and blanket-making at workshops and given resources to produce shopping totes and fleece blankets to sell. They are paid per item and all profits are reinvested into project activities and operations.
GOGOBags generates a significant amount of business from long-term clients who regularly place medium to large-scale orders (including Amazon SA, Taste of Africa, InterSystems SA, Winklmayr, and Vumatel).
The talented gogos can sew customised items, with custom branding and are open to orders like your office branded hats.
