Grandmothers are raising over 4 million children in South Africa.

A home without a grandmother is like a road that goes nowhere.”

— Senegalese proverb

More than ever, families and communities are being held together by older women or grandmothers, known as GOGOs. These GOGOs are uniquely placed to bring about change in vulnerable and marginalised communities.

OUR MISSION

To empower GOGOs as change agents so that they have the ability and opportunity to improve health outcomes and life opportunities for themselves, the children they are raising, their families and their communities.

Through our work and partnerships, we aim to empower GOGOs to drive change in three key areas.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

Antenatal care, feeding practices, play and stimulation.

PRE-ADOLESCENT YEARS

Substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and gender-based violence.

GOGOs WELLNESS

Digital technology training, mental health, non-communicable diseases, and income generation.

Get involved.

We offer the opportunity for NGOs, corporates and private individuals to consult, fund and participate in our community-based, expertly-lead projects, facilitated by our health promotion experts and tailored to meet the needs of those involved.
